Why Renew?

Personal Care

Medical care has little to do with measurable data on patient outcomes, and everything to do with the interpersonal interactions between you, the patient, and me, your physician. Care is personal and involves only two individuals - a doctor and a patient. It is this relationship that allows us to connect with each other and share the details of your problems and together discover the solutions.

Treating the Root Problem

Metabolic or Functional Medicine is a unique, personalized approach to the evaluation of your body's function to understand the root cause of your symptoms by asking "why" rather than just treating symptoms.

IPL FotoFacial

iplfotofacial laserFrequently Asked Questions

What is Intense Pulsed Light?

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) removes sun and age spots from your face, arms, chest, and neck. While some lasers are better suited to improving the appearance by resurfacing the skin, IPL targets pigment below the skin surface to reverse signs of aging and sun damage without the downtime of laser resurfacing. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy also reduces redness caused by rosacea.

Is there any downtime?

No downtime is involved; patients can return to normal activities immediately.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects are reddening of the skin and mild swelling. We use Syneron’s elos laser technology combining two modalities of energy at lower settings to improve efficacy and also safety at the same time!

How long do the results last?

Pigmentation problems may be permanently treated but any additional sun exposure will result in new and further damage. Similarly the effects of stimulating new collagen formation are subject to aging and must be maintained just as exercise must be done regularly. Results can be enhanced and protected by continuing daily skin care routines as recommended by our aestheticians.

How soon will results appear?

Results generally become apparent after the first one or two treatments, but require a set of treatments to achieve maximal results of an even skin tone.

How does the treatment feel?

Most patients experience little or no discomfort. Some patients may feel warmth or a slight stinging sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

Who should avoid Intense Pulsed Light?

Patients with keloids, dark skin, or dark tans may not be good candidates. Darker skin tones are prone to hyperpigmentation after the treatment. Intense Pulsed Light may not be recommended for those taking blood thinners.

How long will my Photofacial last?
